Portrait of Joel Roerick

Areas of work

Recovery · mindfulness · dialogical decision-making · human-rights-oriented practice

Joel’s work combines more than three decades of experience in recovery, mindfulness and non-hierarchical team development with professional experience in Germany, Israel, Italy, Northern Ireland and France.

At its centre is meeting people rather than diagnoses and shaping support so that people remain involved, including when situations become difficult, fragile or conflictual. This also means working towards fairer living and working conditions.

For his thesis Between Crisis and Continuity – Conceptual considerations on the recovery approach in German disability support services, he received an award from Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin.
